Inova’s 20,000+ team members provide more than 2,000,000 patient visits each year through an integrated network of hospitals, primary and specialty care practices, emergency and urgent care centers, outpatient services, and destination institutes.

Our team members benefit from mobile, "on-the-go" learning tools. We want to push just-in-time learning to leaders and team members that work in our hospital system. 7taps allows us to create it quickly! We can choose for learners to pull the content with a QR code or push it with SMS.

We use 7taps in various ways:

1. Our employees had a hard time figuring out our payroll software. We created a job aid on how to set up direct deposit in that system and started sharing it with newcomers via a QR code during onboarding sessions. It helps new employees every week.

We create similar pocket guides on e-services, communication, and soft skills. They are easily accessible (especially with QR codes placed on site) and look nothing like any other software used in healthcare. There’s no need to allocate time for logging into any complicated platform from your work laptop, you can just open a 7taps on your mobile.

When people saw it for the first time the response was “Wow, we’re in the future”.

2. My colleague created a Sepsis training pilot for nurses in 5 hospitals. It’s a recently launched 12-week program that aims to reduce the load on ICU. Courses include essential information, short educational videos, and quizzes to assess the knowledge of our staff.

3. We used 7taps within our Leadership Forum which has over 1000 leaders and is led by the president of our company. The QR codes with key takeaways from the sessions were placed on the Leadership Guide documents that were distributed to the participants.

4. I also use 7taps to create Virtual breakout room discussion questions for my instructor-led Leadership courses. This is super useful because once students join a breakout group, they can’t see the questions on the presentation unless I type them in the chat. The 7taps is so much more engaging!

We next plan to create “pocket guides” to reinforce some of the learning for an asynchronous Coaching course we built. Learners will be able to pull a QR code to 7taps from our Articulate Rise 360 course to review the coaching model.

How others benefit from 7taps

We launched 7taps microlearning courses of clinical cases that help all types of learners among medical professionals. Learners can click a link or scan a QR code using a phone camera to solve these cases in about 5-10 minutes, as they’re scrolling through social media.
